We've recently been getting ready for a PSARC committment review for the CIFS client (PSARC 2005/695, whose review will be open). The feedback I've had from the intern in our case is that when the smb/client service is disabled, an expectation is that *no* CIFS mounts would be permitted. We'd probably file an RFE to make NFS behave the same way - we might not force unmount existing NFS mounts, but we certainly would not permit new ones to set the same expectations. Perhaps this would be clearer once people got over the surprise. This would be in opposition to 6509136. Another way to look at it is this: the client service start method is what gets these mounts done now, so disable == no start method run == no mounts makes sense. If we moved away from this linkage, what other automatic, manageable way of doing the mounts would make sense? A legacy rc script is off the table. Rob T
