Yes, you can do something like this using the CIFS server built into 
OpenSolaris. For example, you could setup a home directory for each user and 
then run the CIFS server in workgroup mode. Jerry would map a network drive to 
\\server\home\jerry, would be prompted for a username/password and then only 
he'd be able to read/write those files. Is that what you're looking to do?
