Tom, Many thanks for your reply. Something must have happened at the router because as soon as I added the Mac Pro to the /etc/hosts file on the server everything was fine. I did notice while playing that SSH'ing to the server was taking a stupid amount of time (perhaps 40 seconds to as for my password and finally connect).
