2.3 as it currently stands is not compatible with this version of Ceph. 
I believe plans are in the works to backport support to 2.3, but it's 
not complete yet.

2.4 is out and, we believe, stable, and 2.3 is unlikely to work with 
Kraken and later versions of Ceph, so it may be time to investigate 
switching to 2.4.
