It's not complete, and not tested, but it's at least something to look at and discuss. I do have one question about the lru run thread. For mdcache entries, it's running seems dependent on open file descriptors, not number of mdcache entries in use, and thus it looks like only when there's too many open file descriptors will it put pressure to demote mdache entries from the L1 to the L2 queue. I'm not sure that's a good behavior, especially as we get away from having so many open file descriptors tracked by mdcache (open fd associated with state aren't counted against the high water mark).
