Hi All,

I have just 3 sources configured, with a maximum of 400 flows/s
currently across all three sources during peak times.

I find that after just a few hours nfsen is eating up a fair amount of
memory usage (50% of available memory)

I had been restarting nfsen daily via cron to prevent it from continuing
to grow in size (to the point where I get the Can't get statinfo
messages and nfsen stops updating the graphs.)

Nfcapd continues to log the data to files, but the nfsen process
eventually can't update the graphs due to lack of memory.

I've now had to move the nfsen restart script to the hourly cron slot
and I'm assuming things will only get worse (one of my sources is not
yet a live link, but will soon be producing at least double the traffic
that my other 2 sources are producing and a possible peak of over 80
times.

I'm running nfsen 1.2.4, are any of the snapshots considered more stable
than 1.2.4?

The system is an x64 Gentoo build, admittedly it only has 1Gb of RAM,
but I feel that upgrading the memory may simply be postponing the
problem to a later date. My live profile is about 50Gb in size.

Additionally I find that trying to get a log scale of my graphs on the
details page pretty much crashes the system (Gengraph.pl just goes out
of control trying to generate the graphs).

Any ideas?

Giles

Hello Giles,
What version of RRDtool are you running?
I have had the exact same problem with the log scale graphs when running the latest RRDtool 1.2.15.
When going back to version 1.2.13, the problem went away.
Perhaps the memory leakage could relate to the same thing?

Hope this helps.
Lambert
