Hi John,
The updated snapshot will be available on sourceforge, within the next few days.
I just wanted to make sure it works, and you kindly did all the testing.
btw. note, that Bernhard's problem is different from yours. He has most likely
the problem, that the web server only ( and not the entire system ) lives in a
different time zone for unknown reason. At least, this is my analysis from the
information given by Bernhard.

| Subject: [Nfsen-discuss] Wrong timezone
|
| Hi,
|
| I sent the following mail to nfsen-discuss a week ago, but it apparently
| did not make it through (probably because I wasn't subscribed). I was
| able to work around most problems by setting the (mostly undocumented)
| date.timezone=CET in php.ini. But today, with this setting, I saw a
| similar ugly behaviour:
|
| I see a peak in the nfsen rrd graph at about 21:30 CET (was there at
| 21:30 CET, I see the flood in the monitoring). I want to see the
| destination, so I select the timespan between 21:20 and 21:45, select
| the router, do "Stat TopN", select "DST IP Address order by bytes" and
| say process and get ... nothing. Because nfsen did
|
| nfdump -R
| /usr/local/nfsen/profiles/live/backbone1/nfcapd.200701262020:nfcapd.20070126
| 2045
| -n 10 -s dstip/bytes
|
| one hour off. So in fact I need to select 22:20 to 22:45 in the graph to
| get the correct data for the peak I see in my graphs.
|
| Original mail:
|
| I've just upgraded to the latest snapshots (but I think I have seen the
| error before) and have a slight problem with the timezone.
|
| It is now Jan. 18th 2006, 00:46. The server collecting the netflow
| records and running nfsen thinks so as well
|
| | teleport svr02% date
| | Thu Jan 18 00:46:40 CET 2007
|
| The nfcapd-files are also obviously named in the CET timezone
|
| | -rw-r--r-- 1 www-data www-data 340368 Jan 18 00:45 nfcapd.200701180040
| | -rw-r--r-- 1 www-data www-data 276 Jan 18 00:45 nfcapd.current.29895
|
| but nfsen itself seems to be a little bit confused about it. The graphs
| on the detail page are showing the times in CET. The profile info is in
| GMT. The t_start and t_end values are CET again. It appears it tries to
| read the statistics for the timeslots and anything I try to get from the
| netflow processing in GMT, because when I select the latest available
| timeslot (0:40 now) and say "List Flows -> process", it tries to open
| the wrong file
|
| | nfdump -r
| | /usr/local/nfsen/profiles/./live/backbone16//nfcapd.200701172340 -o line
| | -c 10
| | Can't stat
| | '/usr/local/nfsen/profiles/live/backbone16/nfcapd.200701172340': No such
| | file or directory
|
| and fails.
|
| I've made a screenshot of the details page available at
| http://users.birkenwald.de/~berni/temp/nfsen.png , if I just press
| "process" now I will get the error message mentioned above.
|
| Thanks,
| Bernhard
