Thanks for the suggestion. I just got a chance to try this (been busy with other stuff the last couple days) and found that nfprofile was failing with a bad librrd call (as Lance suggested was going on). Upon further investigation, it seems the librrd.so.2 library I was using worked rather well for my user (hence the clean "ldd"), but was not working as the user that normally runs nfprofile. With some modifications, the library path is correct and things seem to be working as they should now.
