hello,
I tried to create /root/.pangorc file
[Pango]
ModuleFiles = /etc/pango/pango.modules
[PangoX]
AliasFiles = /etc/pango/pangox.aliases
Both pathes are right. I tried to changed file permissions on 777
for /root/.pangorc. .
After that I see some bulk data in /tmp/nfsen.stderr like binary
format and then again messages
Pango-WARNING **: error opening config file '/root/.pangorc'

Hello.
I tried to apply this changes, but this no help.
I see the following in /tmp/nfsen.stderr one time when I start
./nfsen process
Pango-WARNING **: error opening config file '/root/.pangorc'
But I have not .pangorc file in root directory.
The file '/tmp/nfsen.stdout' is empty.

ARG !!!!
I found the problem !! The same one I had a few years ago
(december 2010): syslogfacility 'debug' seems not to be
understand by my system/config (centos 5.5) with this
version.
On the advice of Peter, I changed nfsend like this
148,149c148,149
< open STDOUT, '>/dev/null' || die "Can't write to
/dev/null: $!";
< open STDERR, '>/dev/null' || die "Can't write to
/dev/null: $!";
---
> open STDOUT, '>/tmp/nfsen.stdout' || die "Can't
open nfsen.stdout: $!";
> open STDERR, '>/tmp/nfsen.stderr' || die "Can't
open nfsen.stderr: $!";
Then nothing were wrote in tmp files but those lines appear
on console :
Invalid syslog facility name 'debug'!
Invalid syslog facility name 'debug'!
Invalid syslog facility name 'debug'!
Invalid syslog facility name 'debug'!
Invalid syslog facility name 'debug'!
Invalid syslog facility name 'debug'
=> Had to use "user" facility instead of "debug" and
profiles runs fin again.
Thanks for your answers and help

Hi,
I disabled some frontend and backend plugins
tried to re-run install script without success.
created a new continuous profile named unnouveau with
yesterday as start date =>
- files are copied in profile's data's directory and graphs
are drawed
- next periodic start and no update....
I ran "/usr/local/nfsen/bin/nfsen -r unnouveau all"
it updates graphs and copied datas until next periodic start
can rrd libraries usage be different between live profile and
other ones ?

Hi,
Yes, everything worked well, I upgraded only nfdump and
nfsen
stop nfsen : /usr/local/nfsen/bin/nfsen stop
mkdir /usr/local/nfdump.1.6.6
ln -s /usr/local/nfdump.1.6.6 /usr/local/nfdump
./configure --enable-nfprofile=yes --enable-nftrack
--prefix=/usr/local/nfdump.1.6.6
make
make install
mv /usr/local/bin/nf* /data/backup
in /usr/local/nfsen/etc/nfsen.conf :
-$PREFIX = '/usr/local/bin';
+$PREFIX = '/usr/local/nfdump/bin';
/usr/local/src/nfsen-1.3.6p1/install.pl
/usr/local/nfsen/etc/nfsen.conf
yum install perl-Socket6 (because install.sh said I should
:-) )
Updated Porttracker (php and pm files)
/usr/local/nfsen/bin/nfsen start
Then I installed SSHCure and upgrade SURFmap (before I saw
that profiles didn't work)
A few hours after, System administrator did a system update

Hi Cedric,
I'm still somewhat clueless.
So it worked, and then you updated. What did you update?
If you
did an OS upgrade, try to recompile nfdump and all it's
other apps
nfprofile, nftrack.
What does your syslog file tell you?

Hi all,
Same problem here after upgrade yesterday from nfsen
1.3.5/nfdump 1.6.1
to lastest releases :1.3.6p1 and 1.6.6.
Nfcapd capture flows.
Live profile looks good (I guess rrd works) but alerts
and other
profiles (continuous or continus/shadow on my box) don't
create graphs.
plugins installed : ddd, SSHCURE, SURFmap,
Porttracker(doesn't work,
but long), Events and a home made one.
=> Profiles :
- nfcapd files are no longer copied in continuous
profiles directory's
but they were before update.
- tried to create a new/fresh one withous success
You have to know that some profile filters are edited
nightly by cronjob
and are long. Example :
wc
/data/nfsen/profiles-stat/protocoles/dns/sortant-filter.txt
1 1032 6818
/data/nfsen/profiles-stat/protocoles/dns/sortant-filter.txt

Hello Peter,
Make sure your rrd library and
Perl module for RRD are linked correctly,
as well as the loader will find them.
The live profile works fine. The graphs looks good.
I am not use empy filters for subprofile. I use like
'proto udp' or 'as
ASnum'
Now i set filter 'any' and type 1:1, but results the
same.
I am not use nfcad. I use flow-capture, and
pile up data in folder for profile 'live' after
converting data by the
utility ft2nfdump .
The data processing occurs before the nfsen process is
run.
I repeat again -- the profile 'live' works fine.
Maybe I am not understand correctly how must works a
sub-profile.
I think the nfprofile process apply filter for file
which was stored in
folder for profile 'live'
and after that it is copying result file in to
sub-profile directory.
Is it right?

for a 1:1 profile use filer 'any' an empty filter
means 'not any'

I have a problem when nftsen trying to collect the
data from "live" profile into
other new profile. All nfcapd files for all
profiles are empty with a
size of 312 bytes.
This is a output of nfdump for this files.

I see zeros in rrd file.
For appropriate file in profile live all looks
good .
