what hangs? the host or the nginx worker processes or the PHP or the mysql? You need to capture some diagnostic information over time to see whats going on here. e.g. (ps, net stat, sar -A, lidstaat -h -r -u -w both with and without he -t switch every ten or so seconds for are minutes. How long does your test run for before hanging?
