A CMS like Plone can really cut down on "e-mail blight."  Several of our
customers also use Plone portals to deal with large file transfers.

You probably will want to use one of the 3rd party calendar products, but
its easy enough to try the default calendar.  The Plone4Artists calendar
product has been working well for us.

One of the main reasons we went with Plone--astonishingly flawless
Linux/Windows compatibility.

Definitely a CMS strong point here.  I've developed Plone sites for UN
organizations' knowledge management needs and it does very well.
