The active trunk is in Contrib. This implementation is based off of the Criteria API. The one in NH core is a new implementation that will translate Linq expressions directly to SQL without going through the Criteria API. But, this is a new effort and hasn't really gotten the attention it needs yet.
The Contrib version is the one that works (for the most part) and the one in use throughout the community.
