FWIW, I would love to see DateTime2 be the default, yes.

Subject: [nhibernate-development] DateTime2 as Default in SqlServer2008

Hi all

As you may know, NH-trunk is supporting the new DbTypes as: Datetime2, Date,
Time, DatetimeOffset so far for Sql Server 2008.
As you may know too, DateTime2 is a perfect match with System.DateTime, then we
don't have to be worried about SqlDateTime overflows when using DateTime2.

The question is: should be DateTime2 default ?
