+1 for that. I am always disappointed when a see that this type of query creates a paged query when it is not needed.

IMO session.CreateQuery("from Category").SetMaxResults(25).List(); should be translated in SELECT TOP 25 {*} FROM Category without unneeded cursors. -- Fabio Maulo
