This is the evolution:ILifecycle (H1.0 or around it) -> Interceptor (NH1.2) -> Events/Listeners (full power control - NH2.0 and above) The ILifecycle is the only one intrusive solution. About Interceptor NH2.0 work like NH1.2 with some improv. Make your choice.
