Hi everyone
Environment:
FW: .Net FW 2.0
Database : Oracle 10g approx tables 3100
Nhibernate 1.2.1
Type of app : Desktop rich application
Number of entities : 1700
Problem statement
We have implemented Nhibernate for a desktop application in .net
framework. After implementing .Net fw the memory footprint has gone up
by 100MB . We use single sessionfactory for all 1700 domain objects /
entities and multiple sessions per workflow. Our observation has also
been that a assembly of 800kb would grow in memory to a size of 7 MB
approx after "addassembly" and "Buildsessionfactory". After our fact
findings its turned out that the NHibernate.Imp.SesionImpl is the one
that causes this bloat in form of hashtables. After profiling the
application in windbg and perfmon we find that our Gen2 of gc has
approx size of 100MB .
So my question here is

1 does NHibernate bloat of file 800KB on disk bloat to approx 7 MB in
memory normal?
2. Whats holding the objects in Gen2
3. Can there be any way we can bring down build session factory size?
4. Is there a smart algo to do multiple buildsessionfactories for
smaller set of assemblies?

All help appreciated

Thanx in advance
