I am wondering if this is sensible in a "best practices" sense. I have what is pretty much a reporting situation with data being displayed to the user inside my WPF app. The query required involves a slightly compliated group by and sum query which is pretty easy for me to do in SQL as a view, but is a fair bit more complex to do using simply Criteria or HQL. The results are obviously read-only.
I have heard it said that you should use nHibernate for CRUD but to use something else for reporting. However, I was wondering if creating this query as a read-only SQL View and loading it into a custom entity using nHibernate would be a simple and sensible approach. If not, perhaps someone could offer how they might solve this problem.
