Looks like this has recently been fixed (see incorrectly indented line in file https://nhibernate.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/nhibernate/trunk/nhibernate/src/NHibernate/Dialect/MsSql2000Dialect.cs) but isn't included in my build. However, to get around this I just subclassed MsSql2005Dialect and added the call to register the locate function as charindex.
