I think that simply the spirit is that it is easy and right to do this with HQL. It may be possible to write this with criteria, but being the query a static query, and being the HQL easy to write, most of us (users) don't find a reason to look for a complex criteria that matches this.
I think that this is the way things work for every product, if there is a better and easier way to do something then you will be suggested to do that...(and you already know how to do it that way) Gustavo.
