First, thanks a lot for all the answers (and for the great product :)) 1. the magic number aren't magic - they will never change (unless there will be more/less ticks in a sec and more/less sec in a minute and.... :) so i'm not so worried about that) 2. i think i will go for the HQL solution, since even if it leaves me with all the problems i have in SQL - it will remove the tie between my app and the specific SQL function that may limit me. 3. thanks again :)
