WCF Data Services supports projections (server-side, not client-side,
this you can always do with LINQ to Objects), but you have to enable
them:
public static void InitializeService(DataServiceConfiguration config)
{
config.DataServiceBehavior.MaxProtocolVersion =
DataServiceProtocolVersion.V2;
config.DataServiceBehavior.AcceptProjectionRequests = true;
...
}
