The answer is yes. What you have to do is just split the concept in the domain-model from the concept in the mapping. In the mapping a component does not have an ancestor, that does not mean that you can't have it in your C# code. With sexy-by-far-mapping (aka mapping-by-code) the matter is solved even for the mapping ;)
