We do not seem to set any particular level. In our current setting (SQLServer or SQLServer CE), I believe that will result in ReadCommitted being used. Monitoring the DB, we do see locks on updates and inserts, but not on read. This is fine for our purposes. Anything more isolated would not be required. Anything less isolated would presumably show other issues.
