1. What version of NHibernate do you use? 2. What type of the ID column of the OrderLine entity? 3. It looks like a bug for me, so please rise an JIRA issue ( http://nhibernate.jira.com) with a simple test case. In short, if you decrease verbosity of logging level from DEBUG to, INFO for example, the error will be gone.
