Hi all,

You'll find the picture under files, as Almost_a_Nighthawk_1.jpg.

There are supposed to be four CB750 Nighthawks left in Sweden since I
crashed mine. Couldn't get my hands on one of them, so instead, I got
a 1993 CB SevenFifty. It turned out to be almost a Nighthawk - with
only minor differences. You should be able to spot most of them on the
picture, but here's what I've found so far:

- Dual piston dual discs in front, single disc rear (as opposed to
single piston single disc and drum, respectively). Motorcycle
manufacturers seem to think that Europeans brake more often, so they
give us better brakes so as to avoid fading. They may be right.

- Sturdier rear gas shocks with external chambers. Similar to the
brakes, we also get more suspension. Our roads must not meet US
standards. I can't feel any difference, though (same setting).

- Different tail light housing and rear side panels. The tail light
housing is distictly different, and the shock mount isn't hidden
behind the panels as on the nighthawk.

- Slightly different seat. Much less comfortable than the Nighthawk. I
have tried an Airhawk pad but will probably get a custom seat done
during the winter.

- Fatter tank, with fake racing-style cap. Holds slightly more fuel,
so this is a good thing.

- Black meter housings. Chromed turn indicator housings. The Nighthawk
has it the other way around, I beleive. Why? Beats me...

- Finally: The wire thingys protecting the passenger's heels from the
mufflers aren't there.

The rest seems the same. I haven't compared the frames (as the scrap
yard has my Nighthawk), but it feels like the same bike, and the
engines are identical as far as I can see.

So... I'll stick around here if it's OK, even though the Nighthawk is
history. I wrote a post on it when it happened, so those with good
memory may remember it. In short - gravel on asphalt combined with a
bad panic reaction landed me in a ditch. Major ouch. No injuries to
me, though, but the bike had a bent frame and became a write-off.
Bought the SevenFifty a week later (for exactly the same amount as I
paid for the Nighthawk - go figure).

Later,
Peter
