A little off subject but I thought I'd ask the group if cel phones are banned for drivers where you live? They are not banned for drivers in Idaho. Saturday one of the members of my riding club was t-boned by a young woman who was chatting away on her cel phone. She drove right into him. He went end over end 4 times down the road. He is in the hospital with broken ribs, broken right wrist, metal rod in his right leg. The accident took off his right heel too... and road rash of course. 8 hours of surgery and they were able to staple his heel back on and put the rod and plates in his leg. He was not wearing a helmet and was VERY lucky. The accident took off an egg-shaped patch of skin from his skull and nothing more. He now claims he will wear a helmet from now on. (I do, and boots that protect my feet and cover my ankles.) Anyway, I am curious to know about your state laws in this matter. I am going to write my legislature about it as I have had many near-misses myself from these cel-phone drivers.
