Hey fellow Nighthawk riders, long time reader, first time poster here. It's really great to find a group of people who love their Nighthawks as much as I love mine.
So I finally got my 82 650sc on the road today and was having a ball cruising around the neighborhood and meeting lots of new friends who kept asking about the bike on an absolutely lovely fall day, until...the battery died and I had to walk the 462 lbs beast back to my friend's house. So what with the battery dead and all, I decided I should use my trickle charger. So I took off the side panels and...how the heck does this seat come off? It slides toward the rear of the bike some and then clicks, but it won't budge from the bike. The metal hooks on the seat/rear plastic thing don't clear the posts on the frame. While I am admittedly a wet behind the ears newbie to motorcycles in general, I did buy the manual as well as the Haynes service manual which has lots of information on how to trouble shoot the battery but absolutely none on how to take the damn seat off the bike to actually get to it. Does anyone know how to get his thing off? is there a latch or or bolt or some kind of incantation that needs to be recited? It's getting colder every day and i really want to get some riding time in before the season ends. emile --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Nighthawk Motorcycle Lovers!" group.
