If the fork tubes are the same diameter as the 98, you should be able to swap the entire front end. That is, if your triple tree is still good. Swapping the tree may not be possible. Details of that operation would take much measuring. As long as the tubes and everything below that are all you want (wheel, calipers, rotors, etc.) I'd try it. How bad is the damage ? Send pix, please.

I am looking to repair at 98. It was laid down and needs the front rotor, caliper and head assembly.  I have the opportunity to purchase an 83 and would like to steal parts off of it to fix the 98.  I’ve not seen the 83 first hand but the pictures I’ve seen of it looks like some of these parts would be transferable. Can anyone offer any guidance?
