On top of the high gas prices we have 6% taxes AND the crappiest roads
anywhere. The ruts in our major highway from Oregon through Idaho to Utah is so
bad that it threw a car into the median this summer. When I ride my bike on it
I have to ride in in the center to avoid being swallowed by the rut-monster. My
big joke is that in Idaho, they just paved over the oregon trail and the ruts
stayed....
On the plus side, they are FINALLY re-paving the highway. In good-ol' Idaho
style, however, it should all be finished by the time I'm in a wheelchair and
no longer give a crap...

Ours pays for hiway taxes (improvements, new builds etc) Like I say, better
than state income tax any day. Now I would be extra upset though if they
started up state income tax AND our gas tax stayed high.

I once tried to read an economist's paper on what drives prices at the pump
and my brain melted. What I've never understood is why gas can be more
expensive here than other states when we refine it here. The closer I get to
the refineries, the high the price goes!

Weak excuses here in WA state too on our high gas prices. I can drive 30
miles up the vally and pay lot's less, our area is terrible on gas prices.
Though I'd rather be paying that than state income tax.
