A simple way to get all the bolts back in place is to take a piece of cardboard
and rough sketch the part and punch holes with a screwdriver where the bolts
go. As you take them out, place in holes. After removing gasket , I rub a
smooth stone (for sharpening knives) over the surface to remove all glitches.
Doesn't take much to clean it up. Honda recommends HondaBond for gaskets but I
like Hylomar. Either way, put a dab between your thumb and index finger and
smear both sides at the same time. The correct appearance should be just a
shiny, wet surface with no excess. Hylomar can be put into service immediately
without waiting for set time. Any excess that oozes out inside your motor can
wind up in the oil pump.

I had a similar issue this past summer...
Let's put it this way: It became a learning experience.

I over-torqued the drain bolt. After slapping myself around out in the
garage, I:
. Dropped the oil pan. (If you do this, make a diagram of bolt
locations! They are different sizes.)
. Had a new helicoil put in. It cost about $40 at a local shop. I
bought a new drain bolt, a handful of crush washers, and a new oil pan
gasket.
. Before you replace the oil pan, take your time - make sure you
remove all evidence of the old gasket from the pan and where it mates.
Do this as if you were going to eat off of it. If you leave any
behind, the pan will leak.
. Replace the pan & drain bolt.

Fill with oil. Test for leaks. Ride & enjoy!
