Now the sidecar makes sense, if:

You are a military officer or other person of military importance, and wish to 
travel in a more dignified manner, suitable to your rank,  than astride a seat 
snuggled up to your driver.  
And especially if you have bulky (important) things to move.

          My grandfather has a Vespa P200E he bought new back in '76 with a 
sidecar. I hate driving that thing with the sidecar on, don't really care for 
it without the sidecar either to be honest, but I like to lean into my turns. 
The one nice thing about the sidecar is if you have a tonneau cover for it, you 
can put a dozen grocery bags down in there and keep them dry.
