April 2007 we bought a stock 1984 Nighthawk 650 with 51,000 miles for $400.00. Repaired body, painted red & black then swapped the rusted exhaust with inexpensive MAC chrome 4 into 1 header. Mechanically in great shape (no smoke) we started 1/8th mile drag racing running at 79mph then added a K&N filter jumping to 81.08mph with a best time of 8.673. I’m told the next most resonable power increase is to up the jet size. What jet size would you recommend? We just replaced rear tire & will replace clutches (sooner rather that later due to a little slipping) if we add stronger clutch springs will it be too much pressure for the hydraulic clutch assist? As a daily driver, local bike shoot out racer & a 25-year old conversation piece it’s been great fun for a few hundred dollar investment.
