The cheapest and quickest way to understand what you bike is doing
regarding alternator output is to purchase the following from Harbor Freight
Tools. Hook it up (permanently, if you wish - it looks a little tacky) to
your battery circuit and observe the lights. It has a magnetic strip on
the back and will "stick" to your gas tank (for a while!) There are separate
lights for voltage levels of 5V, 12V, 12.5V, 12V, 13.5V and 14V. Don't
expect lab accuracy for $2.99. You will be able to graphically observe the
voltage output at various engine rpm. If necessary, shift to a lower gear
to increase the engine rpm and output voltage to keep the battery charged.
The current drain from the LED lights is almost immeasurable. I leave mine
hooked up all the time, and have not experienced a battery discharge
attributable to the tester.. When the bike is not running, it will also
report the static condition of the battery. A lot of info for $2.99!

I took a few pretty nice rides today and it was riding good. I am
noticing that the charging system doesn't really charge the battery
well.
After a few times riding it , the battery is dead.

Do these have alternators like a car?
