Radio Shack used to have a similar gizmo that plugged into the lighter socket in your car. I have modified one and attached with Velcro on my VF1100. Since I use a 100W headlight bulb, I needed to know if it could stand it. No problems with the bike, now just a running light show from the gizmo. Brake light on, turn signals on... little red LED on too. Only time it is. I should pick one of those up, glad to see somebody still makes 'em. Thanks.

Hook it up (permanently, if you wish - it looks a little tacky) to your battery circuit and observe the lights. It has a magnetic strip on the back and will "stick" to your gas tank (for a while!) There are separate lights for voltage levels of 5V, 12V, 12.5V, 12V, 13.5V and 14V. Don't expect lab accuracy for $2.99. You will be able to graphically observe the voltage output at various engine rpm. If necessary, shift to a lower gear to increase the engine rpm and output voltage to keep the battery charged. The current drain from the LED lights is almost immeasurable. I leave mine hooked up all the time, and have not experienced a battery discharge attributable to the tester.. When the bike is not running, it will also report the static condition of the battery. A lot of info for $2.99! ALTERNATOR/BATTERY TESTER Dead alternator or just a dead battery? This tester pinpoints the troublespot, eliminating guesswork and saving you costly repairs. a.. Three alternator readings: Strong (14V), Normal (13.5V), Low (13V) b.. I am noticing that the charging system doesn't really charge the battery well. After a few times riding it , the battery is dead. Do these have alternators like a car? --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Nighthawk Motorcycle Lovers!" group.
