I like the rock thang myself.  And the way Josh handled it, that was cool; and
so was the cop.
It was a trucker who told me the easiest way to make a tailgater back off is
swerve to the shoulder and let the debris fly.  But a bike doesn't lift that
much off the pavement, like a car or truck, or especially a semi hauling a load.
A car or truck, if there isn't enough debris, the only time it works is in the
rain...

My dad also carrys a LARGE allen wrench with him and hasn't had to use it yet.
biggest thing to remember is just not to touch it with your bare hands or
fingers.  then there is no way they can have the proof :D works like a charm.

That's a good one! I'll have to keep a rock with someone's name on it for that.
PROVE IT! LOL.....

personally when im on the bike and have a tailgater i have a med to large rock
in my pocket, if i give them a warning and they don't back off i toss the rock
over my shoulder...backs em off in big hurry...and once i have been pulled over
for it, cop said the person said you threw a rock at her car, i said why would
i do that? then asked the cop if she mentioned that she was about a foot off my
ass when the rock hit her he said no and i said well no i didnt throw a rock
but did go by a gravel road when she suddenly backed off quickly..cop smiled
and sent me on my way :D

Speaking of tailgaters - I was going down the "I-49 Corridor" as they call it
now (really, it's US 90, to a funeral.  This woman kept tailing me - at 65 to
75 MPH - and I slowed down, sped up, even went onto the shoulder to spray
gravel and grit:  nothing worked.  Finally, after about 12 miles of this
nonsense, I had enough and hit the brakes and went down to 40 mph, I kept this
up and after about a mile of that, she passed me.  She must have missed the
sign that  said the speed limit had been reduced to  55, because she was still
going about 65 or 70 and passing everyone...but, before she was completely out
of my eyesight, here comes a cop and pulled her over.  No more trouble from her
the  rest of the trip...
That gun rack would go really well with one of those Yosemene Sam mud flaps;
you know - the one that shows him with two pistols and says, "BACK OFF! "

I've been thinking about a dispenser for small gravel, electrically operated,
for cars and cycles.  You swerve suddenly and dispense gravel onto the
tailgaiter.  After a couple, they would probably back off...........

Guncase would be a great place to store your lunch and other stuff and still be
just as effective.     ;~)

No hard feelings. I also like the idea of chicks with guns ;)
Guns are still acceptable accessories in the great state of Texas. I've just
gotta figure out how to attach this rifle mount to my nighthawk. I'm thinking
it might keep cars from tailgating me.
