If you want to repaint them, Get a paint that is heat resistant. I found some 
in a magazine that was resistant to 1500 degrees. It was $11 for an 8 ounce 
can. That is what I want to do also. Or you could pay a big hunk of money for 
powder coat.

clean it up and Black BBQ paint. Cheap and dirty but if you take care no one 
will ever know it aint powder coat.

Does anyone know whether anything can be done to restore the finish  
on NH S mufflers - that almost black finish. One muffler has what  
looks like streaks where the finish has come off yet there is no  
pitting .   Can't even feel the difference in surfaces between where  
the paint is and where it isn't.
