This could be a bad starter, as happened to me with similar symptoms. Over time, you get a worn spot internally and when the starter spins to a stop on that spot, the next time you try starting, electrical contact doesn't happen. Move the engine and the starter spins to a new spot, not so worn. It then starts.?
Confirm this issue by rocking the bike in gear next time it won't start so that the engine moves just a bit. If it then restarts, have the starter rebuilt. Most auto electric shops can do this. Cost me $90 for them to install new brushes and clean up the armature on a lathe. Removing and replacing the starter is easy. Two bolts and it's out.? Lube the O-ring with some oil when you put it back in. The starter now spins like a banshee and the bike starts every time. Good luck, ride safe Jay S 92 NH750 (81M miles) South Florida --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Nighthawk Motorcycle Lovers!" group.
