Rather than sit on my butt waiting for a backordered rebuild kit for my '95 NH, I decided to take it apart to see what I could see.
Didn't have to go far. The brass tube came out of the tank easily, but the plastic/nylon filter screen "sleeve" didn't. All I could see of it was a buggered up piece of the end of it. Apparently the previous owner had tried to install it with the tank still on the bike and got a little too muscular. Managed to persuade it out, nibbled off the chewed up end with nail clippers. Heated it with my Zippo and re-shaped it to the correct diameter by reaming it with closed needle-nose pliers. Slid a new o- ring down over it, very carefully snugged the whole assembly back into the tank...and damned if it doesn't work! Must've conjured up a few tricks I learned when I was jury-riggin' my ol' Brit bikes back in the day. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Nighthawk Motorcycle Lovers!" group.
