Sounds like a problem with the LCD display itself. Ya' know how sometimes a calculator will do the same thing when it's real old. Keep an eye on Ebay, sometimes you can pick up a new dash unit for not much money. Granted the odometer won't be right any more but at least you'll know how much gas you have and what gear your in...
