Believe it or not it's true. They went from having no helmet laws to having
mandatory laws here some time last decade. This sparked a protest and
hundreds rode down to Austin with no helmet and they rewrote the law. Now if
you can prove you have the insurance and have the 'M' endorsement on your
license you can get a special sticker for your license plate that lets cops
know you're allowed to ride without a helmet. I meet both requirements
myself but don't plan to apply for the suicide sticker.
Funny thing is I insist on wearing my helmet but it still irks me that some
suit in Austin has decided I should wear it.
