Red Foxx (Sanford & Son) demonstrates to his neighbor Grady how to get their old TV to work by smacking it on the side with the heel of his hand in exactly the right spot, then staring at it with his trademark evil-eye look. Goofy, happy-go-lucky Grady never got it right because he couldn't gen up a proper evil-eye (!)
Easy starting of any engine requires 3 systems in good working order: fuel, air and spark. One or more of those is not working properly on your bike, and the only way to isolate which is by troubleshooting/ trial and error. Cheapest first step is follow instructions on a can of Seafoam gas treatment for about 8 bucks at any auto supply. Next check your air filter for dirt or obstructions (or mouse turds or seed husks and chewed up paper -- Really! Bikes stored in garages/sheds/barns can be attractive to nesting rodents). Then, pull your sparkplugs and inspect them for proper gap, intact electrodes and a light tan (coffee w/cream) color. Replace if sooty, oily or burnt white ash. If none of that preliminary stuff eliminates the issue, go to Helm, Inc. and buy an OEM Honda service manual for your model bike and prepare to go deeper. All the while repeating this mantra: I love this bike...I love this bike. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Nighthawk Motorcycle Lovers!" group.
