Mark, There must be a thousand analogies to back up your wonderful advice. I won't suffer the members any of them except to say I'd rather have the memories than the sores. Take the time to enjoy life.

Doing the basic 1000 miler is about all I have time for. doing more touring just to make miles sounds like a BMW rider who never sees anything but his stop watch and odometer the world he passes through is as completely missed. Hope you catch all the fish you can eat. --- On Sun, 6/28/09, Average Joe <[email protected]> wrote: From: Average Joe <[email protected]> Subject: [Nighthawk Lovers] Re: Saddle Sore 1000 on my Nighthawk 750 To: "Nighthawk Motorcycle Lovers!" <[email protected]> Date: Sunday, June 28, 2009, 10:12 PM Here's a photo of me on my successful ride while stopped in the little town of Markleeville, CA, about 9 hours into the ride: http://groups.google.com/group/nighthawk_lovers/web/SS1000-%20Markleeville%2C%20CA%206-26-09.JPG I won't say it was easy- I travelled over 1049 miles in just under 22 hours from start to finish, including all stops. Fatigue wasn't a real problem, I think my physical and mental preparation really helped to manage that aspect well. Where I felt the most discomfort was between the shoulder blades just below my neck- stretching while riding worked for a while, but during the last several hours I just had to bear it. Two days later and most of the soreness is gone. The bike ran flawlessly the whole time. I lubed the chain once about halfway along the route, and it never needed adjusting. I use BelRay Super Clean Chain lube- the white stuff- and am really satisfied with it. The stock seat felt fine for me. The addition of highway pegs on my case guards really helped to stretch my legs on the long straight runs, though I never really cramped up or felt uncomfortable. Will I do another one? Hard to say right now.
