Use a good motorcycle oil.  You mention Amsoil, and they do make
motorcycle-specific oil without "friction modifiers" so your clutch shouldn't
either slip or not disengage.  I don't know of a motorcycle that uses
transmission fluid.

Subject: [Nighthawk Lovers] Trans fluid

What kind of transmission fluid do I use for my bike? Amsoil makes a Universal
Trans Fluid for cars, can I use it for my bike or should I use something
motorcycle specific? My gears are sticking right between 2nd and 3rd. I never
changed or added any trans fluid since I've had the bike so I'm thinking maybe
it's time.
