Given your ailment, getting out from behind the wheel is a wise move. Have you given thought to other occupations in the trucking industry? Every company has administrative positions and most of those are filled by ex-truckers like me. I've been in the business since I retired from the Navy almost 30 years ago. Have been a driver, driver trainer, dispatcher, recruiter, safety director, and now operations supervisor. You have 23 years experience and have at least rubbed elbows with all of those functions, so it wouldn't take much to orient yourself into any of them.
Granted, they mostly involve shuffling paper, but hell, there's more paperwork involved in driving truck, as you well know, than probably any other job. The advantages are less stress, go home at the end of the day and leave the job where it is, instead of it leaving you wherever you happen to be. The most physically demanding thing I do is put on a hard hat now and then, grab a clipboard, and wander around trying to look important. Sumpthin' to think about. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Nighthawk Motorcycle Lovers!" group.
