That put a smile on my face. There are many names for that in the trade. "Exploding job" "Cascading job", "Career project" and we see them all the time. Hours spent on the phone calling the customer with...While we were doing that, we found this.. Most of your stuff was unexpected but none of it wasted. It's done and you won't have to go down that road again for a long while. Take satisfaction in time (and $$) well spent. In short, you didn't discover a new phenomenon, it happens all the time. You're not alone in this boat. Welcome aboard, grab an oar.

To: "Nighthawk Motorcycle Lovers!" <[email protected]> Date: Monday, August 3, 2009, 7:12 AM It was supposed to be simple. New brakes and fork seals. That's what I said two months ago when I told my wife that I needed to put some time and money into my bike. I asked a buddy who's been wrenching on bikes for 20+ years to help and we starting tearing it down in my garage. As we got into it, as with anything, the problems just started piling up. Once we got the tire and forks off, it needed new steering head bearings. (cha-ching) That's more tear down. Then we couldn't get the snap rings out of the forks to get the seals out. Had to take them to my local shop to have them done. (cha-ching). When it came to be brakes, in addition to new pads, I needed to rebuild the calipers, tried and couldn't get the pistons out. Took them to the shop, (more cha-ching). They tried and couldn't get the pistons out. Sent them back home with me and sold me rebuild kits (even more cha-ching). We had to put them back on the bike and force the brake fluid into them to drive the pistons out. (That was an ordeal). In the course of all of this, we decided that I new front tire was in order. (cha-ching). When it was all said and done, I ended up spending about twice my budget on the complete tear down and rebuild of the front end of my bike. but we finished this weekend and hit the twisties yesterday afternoon. It was AWESOME!!!! Just goes to show that you never know what you're going to find until you get into it.... --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Nighthawk Motorcycle Lovers!" group.
