I had the voltmeter also when trying to find the origin of my charging 
problems. When you see the volts drop slowly, at a given rpm like 
3000-4000, from 12.9 to 11.5 in a few hours, it means that your charging 
system is out of order. You have rather stop by yourself in a place where 
you can connect a battery charger instead of waiting that the bike stops by 
itself anywhere.
