Each bike has its own personality, more or less. My '95 requires a full-choke warmup of about 5 seconds, half-choke for another 5, then runs like a scalded dog -- with little or no choke -- from a cold start. The scenario changes at various degrees of engine temp, like when bar-hopping or running errands, when the motor has had some time to cool down somewhat at each stop, but is not completely cold. In that case, it's best guess, based on trial and error, as to what partial-choke (or any choke) setting is appropriate.
My rule of thumb is to start (without blipping throttle) and wait for rpm to gradually increase, then decrease choke and allow rpm to climb again -- repeat until its obvious no further choking is needed. Takes about 10, maybe 15 seconds. You might try a Seafoam regimen according to directions on the can, to see if that improves fuel delivery before experimenting with plug changes. Honda recommends a plug change only if running at sustained high speed for hours on end, as in a long trip in hot weather. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Nighthawk Motorcycle Lovers!" group.
