Sorry man, it's a hoax. The name of the email changes from year to year but it's the same scam. I love the way they add Snopes to the list of names to throw around now, yet they leave Microsoft in. Microsoft doesn't classify viruses. Also overwriting "sector zero" wouldn't do much damage. Most windows computers are using the NTFS file system these days which keeps a second copy of the partition table in the middle of the partition, so wipe sector zero all you want.
The real virus is the email message itself.
