When I first painted my 700, I used that rubber wheel from my buddy at his body 
shop. It worked very well. I can't say it did not scuff the piant, But I was 
repainting the parts anyway. 
if you use light pressure (and Goo-Gone) than I think you will be happy with 
the results.

Our shop has an air powered wheel made of eraser material. I removed
stripes on my 94 Ranger with no damage to finish.  Might be worth
asking a body shop tech to do it for $20.00 on a lunch hour.
