I'm very glad to find your site, Paul.
I just bought my second Nighthawk. Some .... stole my first bike
(a 1983 450sc that I've had for five years) just before Christmas and
although they couldn't start it and only pushed it three blocks, it's
now a write-off. My new bike is a 1983 550 with just over 33000kms.
I use it for commuting a few times a week here in Vancouver, BC. It
gets pretty cool in winter at around 1 - 5 degrees C and the rain can
be non-stop. I'd like some recommendations for a windshield or full
fairing that comes off pretty easily for our nice weather but that
gives me good upper body protection (and maybe some thigh protection
if that isn't asking too much.) I'll be posting pics soon. Just got
the bike back from the shop today with new brakes and fork seals - I'd
better learn how to do those I think. So, any suggestions?

PS. I've looked at SlipStream website but don't know personally
anything about them, and read that some of you have National (Plexi
Fairing 3 - how is it?). Anything else I should look at?
